Chapter 5is the sixth chapter of the first season and the sixth chapter overall of Sweet Elite. It was released on March 16, 2019, and was developed and published by Dulcet Games Inc.

Summary

After silencing the multiple alarms they have set, Scholar prepares for the long day ahead of them. They are still processing the fact that they ranked third after the interviews, a fact that has given them newfound popularity. Even Karolina takes new notice of Scholar, something that annoys them; the only thing that has changed about them is their raking and suddenly people are all too eager to get into their good graces. Axel points out the double standard as well during a friendly chat with Scholar.

Tadashi interupts at one point to annouce the meet up time for the opening ceremony. Once they have finished their morning routine, Scholar heads to their departments designated practice room. Scholar and the rest of their department do a quick once over of their project before heading to the Hallway 1 for the opening ceremony. As the ceremony progess, Scholar gets sidelined by a reporter, who makes their anxiety rise with each progressive question. Thankfully for them, Lady Arlington steps in at that point, revealing that she used to attend the academy with the reporter. She even makes some veiled threats which gets the reporter to back off.

Lady Arlington leads Scholar back into the main building. She advises Scholar to stay alert around such people, before rejoining the parade. By this point, all of the departments have finished and were waiting at the back of the building's main room. The only ones still near its entrance are Axel and Tadashi, the latter of whom calls Scholar over when he spots them; apparently, the current top three students are supposed to appear on a small stage and make a brief statement.

Scholar gives a few words of gratitude and a few of their classmates cheer for them. After Lady Arlington closes the opening ceremony, Scholar goes back to their department's room. The entire department works on the project until lunchtime. In the crowded cafeteria lounge, Scholar manages to find a seat with a couple of students they recognize. The spend most of the lunch period chatting or bantering with them.

After lunch, they return to their practice room where their department works on the projects finishing touches. Unfortunately, they forgot something back in their dorm. They hastily go back to their dorm and grab what they need, but when they exit their room, they hear Neha crying. Neha exits her own dorm at that point and sits on the floor, clearly distress by something. Scholar is torn between trying to give some morale support or letting her have her space. Either way, they will return to their department, where everyone will continue hashing out the project until the official starting time for the acutal competition.

The competition is being held in the Auditorium. As the competition unfolds, Scholar is awed by everyone's creativity and hard work. When its time for their department, the presentation either goes off without a hitch or there is a hiccup that Scholar manages smooth over with some quick thinking. Once every department has completed their presentations and the votes are in, Lady Arlington announces the winning department and winning student. During the announcement, Scholar realizes that they have friends here; while the competition was exhausting, it helped them bond with some of their fellow students.

With the Department Competition finally at an end, the student body filters out of the auditorium. As the stress leaves the their body, Scholar cannot help but look forward to a relaxing evening. They check to make sure they have everything, only to realize they have left their phone in the cafeteria. When they go to reclaim it, one of their friends already found it. As they talk with them, it is possible for them to start showing signs that they are developing a crush.

Before long, they both realize the sun is setting. Calling it a day, Scholar walks with them back to the dorms then bid one another good night. Throwing themself on their bed, they reflect on how far they have come since their first day. However, before they can settle down completely, they hear a knock on their door. It is Serena, whose stopped by to explain that this chapter as well as the one before it comprise one huge arc; there are a lot of little hints and clues scattered throughout both and doing a combination of story and fun replays will help you get the most out of these chapters. After her explaination, she lets Scholar go so they can get some sleep.

Plot

Scholar and their department have been busy lately inventing something extraordinary for Department Competition, to show your talents.

While running head as your third leg organizing everything, you encounter Neha who seems to be sad and stressed. You can either leave her since you are in a very hurry and your department is waiting for you or you can console her. Later option gives you an illustration and you have a short chat with Neha who open up to you, telling she has some issues with her parents.

You then tell her that your father had to do two jobs at the same time in order to be able to buy you your school uniform which Neha responds angrily and shocked that she has always thought those uniforms are too expensive. She then says she thinks that you are a great person, sensing it right away when she met you for the first time.

Last chapter interview's results come in and you're very shocked to find out that you actually placed third, just after known millionaire's son Tadashi and famous celebrity Axel. This placement earns you a nickname "Arlington Sweetheart" and gives you much needed points towards rankings' silver tier and whole competition's win.

Each department's creations are presented in front of cameras in auditorium. The outcome of this presentation depends on each department and your decisions in previous chapter.

It-essentials v7.0 Chapter 5-6 Checkpoint Exam Answers

1. A computer is assigned an IP address of 169.254.33.16. What can be said about the computer, based on the assigned address?

It cannot communicate outside its own network. *

It can communicate on the local network as well as on the Internet.

It can communicate with networks inside a particular company with subnets.

It has a public IP address that has been translated to a private IP address.

Explanation: If a computer is configured with DHCP but it cannot communicate with the DHCP server in order to obtain an IP address, the Windows OS automatically assigns a link-local IP, in the range of 169.254.0.0 to 169.254.255.255. The computer can only communicate with other computers connected to the same 169.254.0.0/16 network and cannot communicate with computers in another network.

2. A technician needs to add a new wireless device to a small WLAN. The WLAN is a mixture of old and newer 802.11b and 802.11g devices. What choice for the new device would provide the most interoperability for present and future growth?

Add a new 802.11a device.

Add a new 802.11b device.

Add a new 802.11g device.

Add a new 802.11n device. *

Explanation: 802.11n devices are interoperable with all the other standards, and provide more bandwidth than the other standards. 802.11a is not interoperable with any of the other standards. 802.11b and 802.11g interoperate with each other, but do not provide the bandwidth supplied by 802.11n devices.

3. The current IP configuration of a small company is done manually and is time-consuming. Because of increased network growth, a technician needs a simpler way for IP configuration of workstations. Which service would simplify the workstation IP configuration task?

APIPA

DHCP *

DIPS

ICMP

Explanation: In networks with more than a few hosts, DHCP simplifies the addressing process. A DHCP server automatically assigns host IP addresses.

4. A computer can access devices on the same network but cannot access devices on other networks. What is the probable cause of this problem?

The cable is not connected properly to the NIC.

The computer has an invalid IP address.

The computer has an incorrect subnet mask.

The computer has an invalid default gateway address. *

Explanation: The default gateway is the address of the device a host uses to access the Internet or another network. If the default gateway is missing or incorrect, that host will not be able to communicate outside the local network. Because the host can access other hosts on the local network, the network cable and the other parts of the IP configuration are working.

5. What physical layer medium is used by DSL to provide high-speed data communications?

telephone lines *

television cable

Satellite dish

4G wireless radio

Explanation: DSL uses existing telephone lines to carry voice and data traffic at the same time. DSL uses a filter to separate the traffic.

6. A user is setting up a home wireless network. Which type of device must the user have in order to establish the wireless network and provide access to the internet for multiple home devices?

hub

wireless router *

switch

patch panel

Explanation: A wireless router connects multiple wireless devices to the network. It will then aggregate the internet access requests from home devices to the internet.

7. A network technician is setting up a web server for a small company. The company has obtained a domain name, company-a.com, from a domain registry service. The new web server is accessible through the IP address matching the domain. However, when the technician types company-a.com in the web browser, an error message displays saying that “The connection has timed out”. What is the problem?

The DHCP server is down.

The domain name resolution failed. *

The URL needs to be http://company-a.com.

A web page named home.html is required to be created first.

Explanation: A web URL is in the form of protocol://domain-name/resource. The web server IP address can be used in place of domain-name. The resource is the file structure and file name under the web service. If the domain name is used in the URL, the IP address matching to the domain name must be found first through the name resolution process. HTTP is the default protocol by all web browsers so that a user is not required to type it when accessing a website. Also, home.html is not required for a web server to function. Even if the technician does not create any web page during the installation and configuration process, major web servers have a built-in mechanism to display a greeting message if the web server runs normally.

8. A network technician is setting up a web server for a small company. The company has obtained a domain name companyX.com from a domain registry service. The web server must provide secure communication through SSL/TLS technology. When the technician enters companyX.com in the web browser, the unsecured part of the website is displayed. What should the technician do to make the web browser display the secure content of the web server?

Use https://companyX.com as the URL. *

Use http://companyX.com as the URL.

Use http://companyX.com::443 as the URL.

Ensure that the domain name is successfully resolved.

Explanation: A web URL is in the form protocol://domain-name/resource. HTTP is the default protocol used by all web browsers so that if a user does not specify the protocol in the URL, HTTP is used by default. In order to access the secure content serviced through SSL/TLS, a user must specify HTTPS as the protocol in the URL.

9. A small company is upgrading its phone system with IP phones. These phones can be used just by plugging into a network port in the offices. Which technology would support the IP phones?

wireless power transfer

Power over Ethernet *

NFC

UPnP

Explanation: Power over Ethernet (PoE) is implemented through switches. A PoE switch transfers small amounts of DC current over an Ethernet cable, along with the data, to power PoE devices. Low voltage devices that support PoE, such as IP phones, can be powered through the Ethernet cable.

10. A network technician is setting up a wireless access point in the front office of a small company. The technician needs to disable an option on the access point that would allow devices to dynamically add themselves to the network without configuration. Which technology should the technician disable?

NAT

UPnP *

MAC filtering

port forwarding

Explanation: Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) is a protocol that enables devices to dynamically add themselves to a network without the need for user intervention or configuration. Although convenient, UPnP is not secure. The UPnP protocol has no method for authenticating devices. In addition, the UPnP protocol has numerous security vulnerabilities. This protocol should be disabled.

11. A small company connects data acquisition equipment to the serial port of a computer. The equipment user has reported that not all data is being received by the computer. A technician wants to check the serial communication between the equipment and the computer. Which tool can the technician use to troubleshoot the serial communication?

multimeter

cable tester

loopback plug *

tone generator and probe

Explanation: A loopback plug is a device that connects to a computer to perform a diagnostic procedure called a loopback test. In a loopback test, a signal is transmitted through a circuit and then returned to the sending device to test the integrity of the data transmission.

12. An administrator is setting up a framework to support access control on a network device. What type of server is able to control those who are permitted to access a network and track what actions they perform while accessing the network?

authentication server *

print server

FTP server

DNS server

13. A company is setting up one new laser printer on every floor. What type of server will store the print jobs in a queue and then spool them to the device when it is ready?

Chapter 5 – Answering Questions

Transcript

Video duration: 5:49

On-screen: [Computer-Delivered Testing Demonstration. Chapter 5, Answering Questions.]

Narrator: Chapter 5, Answering Questions.

On-screen: [(Questions with answer choices).]

Questions, answer choices, and related material occupy the main part of the screen. Tests may consist entirely of selected response questions, or they may include both selected response and constructed response questions.

On-screen: [Question Information.]

Before you begin answering questions, you will be presented with a screen explaining what you are required to do to enter your answers.

On-screen: [(Questions with answer choices).]

To answer a selected response question, click on a response. To de-select it, click on it again. To change your answer, click on a different choice.

On-screen: [Questions Requiring a Single Answer Choice.]

The single question presents a direct question or an incomplete statement. Sometimes two or more questions are based on the same stimulus material. In these cases, the stimulus will be on the left side of the screen and the questions will appear on the right.

On-screen: [Directions. Assignment.]

Some tests include constructed response questions. Constructed response questions are questions that require you to provide a written, or in some cases, a spoken response. For questions requiring a written response, the question being asked will appear on the top or left portion of the screen, and the area for you to type in a response appears on the lower half or right portion of the screen.

Technically enhanced questions require you to do answer questions in a different manner from clicking on an answer option. You may have to key in an answer, transfer a calculated result, highlight a word, sentence, or passage, drag answers to specified boxes, or use a dropdown menu. When the answer is a number, you might be asked to do one of several things: Enter a numeric answer, transfer a calculated result from a calculator into an entry box.

On-screen: [(Questions with answer choices).]

Some questions may have more than one place to enter a response. Some questions require you to click check boxes instead of an oval when more than one choice within a set of answers can be selected. To de-select a choice, click it again. Be sure to read the instructions carefully to see if you are required to choose a specific number of answers.

On-screen: [(Example charts).]

In questions with reading passages, you may be asked to choose your answer by clicking on a sentence or sentences within the reading passages. In some questions, you will choose your answer by clicking on a location or locations on a graphic, such as a map or chart, as opposed to choosing from a list. In some questions, you will choose your answer by clicking on your choice or choices within a table or grid.

On-screen: [(Example List).]

You may be asked to choose answers from a list and drag and drop them into the appropriate locations in a table, paragraph of text, or graphic. To drag an answer, move the mouse pointer over it, press the mouse button down, and while still holding it down, move the mouse to drag the answer to one of the empty boxes, then release the mouse to drop it into the box. If you change your mind, you can drag an answer to a different box or back to its starting position.

On-screen: [(Example Chart).]

This type of question will ask you to select the appropriate answer or answers by selecting the options from a dropdown menu. To see the options, click on a triangle next to a blank, then click on your choice. Questions with stimulus materials begin with information such as a reading passage, graphic, table, or a combination of these. This is followed by a question based on that material.

On-screen: [(Question with answer choices).]

Questions with an oral stimulus require you to answer a question after hearing a recording, such as a short music sample. Most recordings will play once, while some may play two or more times. You can choose or change your answer at any time while the music is playing or during the brief pause after each playing. You will not be able to replay the music for a question. So be sure to answer each one during the time provided and before you advance to the next question.

Some tests provide reference material that you can view to help you answer questions. You access the information by first clicking the help button.

On-screen: [Math Reference. Notations.]

Then you can click the tab for the reference sheet you wish to consult. The return button takes you back to the question you were viewing.

On-screen: [Using the On-Screen Calculator.]

An on-screen calculator is available as part of the testing software for tests that require the use of a graphing, scientific, or four function calculator. A calculator help screen, such as the one shown here, will be available to you during the test via the help button.

On-screen: [(Picture of the on-screen calculator).]

To operate the calculator, click the calculator buttons, or use the keyboard or key pad numbers and operations. To use the key pad, the Num Lock key must be on. The calculator displays eight digits and works like a typical basic calculator, except that it respects order of operations. In a computation involving more than one operation, multiplication and division are performed before addition and subtraction.

For example, if one plus two times four is entered, the result is nine, not 12 because the multiplication is performed before the addition. The calculator has a memory location for storing a number, which is initially zero. To add the displayed number to the stored number, click the M+ button. An M will appear next to the display to show that a new number has been stored. To recall the stored number, click the MR button. To clear the memory, click the MC button, which resets the memory to zero, removing the M. There is a transfer display button, which you can use on numeric entry questions with a single answer box. Clicking the transfer display button will transfer the calculator display to the answer box. You should check that the transferred number has the correct form to answer the question. For example, if a question requires you to round your answer or convert it to a percent, make sure that you adjust the transferred number according.

1 CORRECT
Steam at 1 mPa, 300°C flows through a 30 cm diameter pipe with an average velocity of 10 m/s. The mass flow rate of this steam is:A)0.731 kg/sB)2.74 kg/sC)3.18 kg/sD)3.78 kg/sFeedback: Answer b is the correct answer. According to the water property table, v = 0.2579 m3/kg. The mass flow rate of the steam is then
2 CORRECT
Refrigerant-134a flows through a pipe at 800 kPa, 50°C. The specific flow work required to move this fluid through a cross-section of the pipe is:A)22.77 kJ/kgB)31.60 kJ/kgC)37.21 kJ/kgD)40.70 kJ/kgFeedback:
Answer a is the correct answer. The specific volume of the R-134a under these conditions is 0.02846 m3/kg according to the R-134a property tables. Then, the specific flow work is w = Pv = 22.77 kJ/kg.

3 CORRECT
A mixture of ideal gases has an apparent molecular weight of 36.4 kg/kg-mole and a specific enthalpy of 273.2 kJ/kg when the temperature is 127°C. The specific internal energy of this gas mixture is:A)98.72 kJ/kgB)153.1 kJ/kgC)181.8 kJ/kgD)273.2 kJ/kgFeedback: Answer c is the correct answer. According to the definition of the enthalpy and the ideal gas equation of state, u = h - Pv = h - RT = 273.2 - 8.314 (400) / 36.4 = 181.8 kJ/kg.
4 CORRECT
Air enters an adiabatic, steady-flow turbine at 1 MPa, 527°C through a 1 m2 duct with a velocity of 100 m/s. The air leaves the turbine at 100 kPa, 157°C. The mass flow rate of the air is:A)87.4 kg/sB)137.3 kg/sC)327.2 kg/sD)435.6 kg/sFeedback:
Answer d is the correct answer. The specific volume of the air at the turbine inlet is v1 = RT/P = 0.287 (800) / 1000 = 0.2296 m3/kg. Hence, the mass air flow rate is: m = AV/v = 1(100)/0.2296 = 435.5 kg/s.

5 CORRECT
Air enters an adiabatic, steady-flow turbine at 1 MPa, 527°C throuigh a 1 m2 duct with a velocity of 100 m/s. The air leaves this turbine at 100kPa, 157°C. The work produced by this turbine based upon temperature variable specific heats is:A)293.2 kJ/kgB)360.3 kJ/kgC)390.5 kJ/kgD)420.6 kJ/kgFeedback:
Answer c is correct. The steady-flow first law neglecting kinetic and potential energies when applied to this turbine reduces to w12,out=h1 - h2=h(800K) - h(430K) = 821.95 - 431.43 = 390.5 kJ/kg where the enthalpies are obtained from an air ideal gas table.

6 CORRECT
Steam at 4 MPa, 400°C enters a steady-flow, adiabatic turbine through a 20 cm-diameter-pipe with a velocity of 20 m/s. It leaves this turbine at 50 kPa with a quality of 80% through a 1 m-diameter pipe. What is the velocity of the steam as it leaves the turbine?A)10.3 m/sB)28.2 m/sC)32.6 m/sD)73.3 m/sFeedback:
Answer b is correct. According to the steam tables, v1 = 0.07341 m3/kg. The steam mass flow rate is then, m = A1V1 / v1 = Π(0.2)2(20) / [4(0.07341)] = 8.56 kg/s. The outlet is a liquid-vapor mixture and v2 = vf + x vfg = 0.001 + 0.8 (3.240 - 0.001) = 2.59 m3/kg. According to the mass flow rate expression, V2 = m v2 / A2 = 8.56 (2.59)(4) / [π(1)2 = 28.2 m/s.

7 CORRECT
Saturated liquid water enters an adiatic steady-flow throttle valve at 500 kPa and leaves at 100 kPa. What is the quality of the water liquid-vapor mixture leaving this valve?A)9.87%B)10.6%C)14.3%D)21.1%Feedback:
Answer a is correct. The enthalopy at the inlet to this valve is h1 - hf (500 kPa) = 640.23 kJ/kg. Since this valve exchanges no work or heat with its surroundings, the first law becomes h2 = h1. The quality at the outlet is then x2 = (h1 - hf) / hfg = (640.23 - 417.46)/2258.0 = 9.87%

8 CORRECT
Air enters the afterburner nozzle of a jet fighter at 427°C with a velocity of 100 m/s. It leaves this adiabatic nozzle at 377°C. Assuming that the air specific heats do not change with temperature, the velocity at the nozzle exit is:A)142 m/sB)178 m/sC)227 m/sD)343 m/sFeedback:
Answer d is correct. Nozzles do not exchange heat or work with their surroundings. The first law then reduces to: V2 = √(2cp(T2 - T1) + V12) = √(2(1.08)(1000)(427 - 377) +1002) = 344 m/s.

9 CORRECT
Air is compressed from 100 kPa, 300 K to 500 kPa, 500 K in an adiabatic, steady-flow compressor. Allowing for variations in the air's specific heat with temperature, the work required for this compression is:A)132 kJ/kgB)186 kJ/kgC)203 kJ/kgD)241 kJ/kgFeedback:
Answer c is correct. Since there is no heat transfer, the first law becomes q12,in = h2(500 K) - h1 (300 K) = 503.02 - 300.19 = 203 kJ/kg.

10 CORRECT
An initially empty, rigid, insulated container is filled with air from a constant pressure, Pl, and temperature, Tl, supply line. When filled, the air pressure in the vessel matches that in the line. The final temperature of the air in the vessel is given by which of the following equations?A)Tf = cvTl / cpB)Tf = cpTl / cvC)Tf = TlD)Tf = RTl / cvFeedback:
Answer b is correct. Application of the conservation of mass principle to the rigid container gives Δm = mf - mi = mf. The first law reduces toΔmhl = mfuf which when combined with the conservation of mass results becomes hl = uf. Evaluating u and h with specific heat-temperatures products gives Tf = cpTl/Cv.
