Vicky Pattison slips into a pale blue bikini after taking 10 years to 'accept her body'

Vicky Pattison has shared how it's taken her a decade to accept her appearance, as she vowed to inspire her fans on Friday.

The former Geordie Shore star, 33, took to Instagram to share snaps of her figure in a pale blue bikini, taken from different angles to highlight how the camera could be deceiving.

Documenting her trouble with finding body confidence, Vicky called on her social media followers to be kind to themselves and enjoy life regardless of how they look.

Vicky wrote: 'This picture probably just looks like another holiday post to you guys - here Vicky is again, with her boobs out, on holiday, eating and drinking and being a smug cow. But to me it's much more significant than that.

'It's taken me years to come to accept my body - not punish it with endless exercise, not deprive it, not hide it away or hate it… and here I finally am at 33, in a bikini, eating a dessert and drinking a sugary cocktail without a care in the world! (My face didn't get the memo btw.)

'I used to be the type of girl who would eat practically nothing all day just because I didn't want my tummy to bloat round the pool. Or I'd be the girl who saved all her calories for drinking at night time… utterly ridiculous but I'm telling the truth.

'I think back to that girl, and even though she had some amazing holidays, some brilliant experiences and travelled to some beautiful countries… She was living a half life. A life in fear of her own f**king body shape, obsessed with my size and scared of my curves.

'I wish I could go back and tell that lost little girl to have the mojito, to enjoy the fancy pastry, to just live her life… because it isn't better when you're skinny. At least it wasn't for me anyway.

'Ladies, life doesn't begin when you lose that stone, it doesn't start when you fit into that dress - it's happening now and by hating our bodies we're just wasting our precious moments where we could be having fun and making memories.

'Don't be the lass sweating your tits off in a kaftan because you're worried about your love handles, be the girl cannon balling onto the pool and showing everyone that being beautiful is about confidence - not a clothes size.

'So to anyone caught in a cycle of disordered eating or unkind thoughts I'm here to tell you that you're absolutely perfect, exactly as you are and that I hope you know that!'

She also shared a snap of herself in the hotel room as she posed side on to show her figure.

'@ercan_ram is already absolutely fuming to be back on picture taking duty but I've told him it's part of the deal so now he's off sulking somewhere.

'First proper day in Dubrovnik and we're being sun loungers surfers in our hotel as it is just so beautiful round here… We will be going for an explore later so all suggestions are super welcome!!

'My bikini is from @naia_beach guys - I had the black one one my last holiday and I loved it so much I went and got it in white and red- they fit lovely and cover all my boobs which I really struggle with normally!

'Just thought I'd share as I'm always struggling to find bikinis that I don't over expose myself in.

'Oh and I think my sunglasses are from @noughtsandkisses but last years.'

Vicky Pattison hits back at Instagram trolls who insult her for looking happy

Vicky Pattison has hit back at Instagram trolls who insulted her for looking happy after she detailed her struggles with her mental health last week.

The former Geordie Shore star, 34, took to the social media app on Sunday to discuss what she was feeling alongside a photograph of her in bed with a comparison of her on a photoshoot.

She wrote: 'Instagram is a funny old place isn’t it?!! Less than a week ago I expressed that I was feeling low, struggling and wasn’t quite myself- & instantly my Instagram was awash with well wishes, people telling me that I was ‘brave’ & that they needed to hear what I’d said & were pleased I’d spoken out.'

She went on to say that people were thanking her for saying what she did and that it 'made it easier for them to verbalise how they’d been feeling'

The social media influencer continued: 'I felt like I’d done something good & it made my journey to feeling better loads easier.'

'I’ve spent the 10 days or so putting myself back together, spending time with my family, exercising, eating right & slowing things down slightly.. & thankfully I’m feeling more like myself.

The day after World Mental Health Day, she posted a candid shot of herself looking bleary eyed in which she wrote in the caption the ways she has not been feeling herself, and her past struggle with mental health issues.

She went on: 'But weirdly, once I’m back to my best on Instagram- being glam, looking forward to holidays, launching new projects.. That’s when the hate & trolling seems to sneak back in.'

'It’s as if these people look & think "oh there she is, she’s happy again, she’s fair game now, I cannot wait to tell her that I think she’s a bad role model/famous for nothing/terrible dog mam/edits her pictures/is ugly/is old."

'Now I’m not for a single second insinuating that mine or anyone’s mental health is intrinsically linked to the things people write about them on Instagram.

'But what I am saying is this cruel & hateful diatribe certainly can exacerbate a persons insecurities, feelings of inadequacy & self worth-which we all know CAN lead to poor mental health.'

'Social Media should be a place where we support one another, cheer people on from the other side of the world, encourage fellow females to realise their potential & generally just spread love, light & lit memes- but if you are using it to try & tear other people down, just when they start to feel better you are not only using it wrong, you are also very sad & abit of a d***.'[sic]

'Always remember, Rudeness & cruelty are a weak persons imitation of strength- they are bully’s tools. Be better than that. Real strength comes from showing vulnerability, trying to help others, being open & being kind.

'And if you ever feel like someone is trying to drag you back, keep you small, take you to that dark place- block them, delete them & remove them from your life. They do not deserve your peace.'

The post comes after she detailed her burn out with The Mirror on Sunday, and told the publication that she has had a 'great summer' because she's said 'yes to everything' but has led to her feeling run down.

She said: 'That’s all nice, but what goes up has to come down and the truth is I’ve burned the candle at both ends.

'I felt burnt out and run down. When your battery’s low you don’t have the strength to fight everything else, whether it be trolls or a long day or a cold.

'Everything got on top of me and I felt if I’m feeling like this, I guarantee there are thousands or maybe millions of other people who probably haven’t verbalised it and have let it eat them up inside.'

She went on to discuss the fact that she thinks it is important that she shares the details of her struggle because it encourages a healthy narrative.

Back in 2014, Vicky sought psychiatric help after she drunkenly assaulted a woman and was sentenced to 180 hours of community service, and will bring out a self-help book in January.

Run down: Vicky always seeks to be as candid as possible on social media. She has recently discussed with The Mirror that she has felt burnt out after saying 'yes' to everything this summer

As well as messages about her own appearance, Vicky has also been bombarded with horrible messages from men about the posts she makes regarding the recently cases of Sarah Everard and Sabina Nessa.

Vicky now lives with her partner Ercan Ramadan in Essex and recently discussed that racy underwear reignited passion in the bedroom after admitting her sex life stalled during lockdown.

She told MailOnline that he 'didn't know what to do' and 'thought it was a trick' after she came home from a photo shoot wearing a saucy two-piece.

Vicky said: 'When I came home from the shoot, I kept the bra and knickers on I had been photographed in last. Ercan absolutely did not know what to do with himself.

'It was a long lockdown, so the poor fella is used to sports bras and nude basics so when he saw me in my black and lacy getup, he didn't know what to do, he thought it was a trick!'

She added to The Mirror: “I do have chapters I don’t want to read out loud – but so does everybody.”

Speaking previously about why she quit the show, Vicky said on that she felt she was too old to go out and get "mortal" everyday.

She told pal Geordie Kousoulou on the Vicky Pattison: The Secret To podcast: "For me, I had to leave Geordie Shore because the format didn't grow.

"It was still just a bunch of people who were no longer in their twenties getting p****d four and five nights a week.

"For some people that's their reality, and that's absolutely fine, but for me I definitely wanted something different.

"So it felt like it didn't grow with me."

Despite getting down and dirty on TV, Vicky hasn't let that stop her from excelling in her career.
