Old Veteran Dead.
Phineas Davenport, a Confederate veteran, died recently at his Woodington residence. He was 82 years of age. Comrade Davenport, who was a member of a promenient family of this section, served under Lee in Virginia. He is survived by a widow and the following sons: Allan, Bryan, Council, Hazy, James and Edward Davenport of Jones County, and Gilbert Davenport of Washington, NC. Burial took place in a family cemetery near the residence.

A handsome tablet was unveiled at Annapolis, Md. Saturday to the memory of Lieut.-Commander George Fountain Parrott of Kinston, who died when the destroyer Shaw was sunk in a collision with a British liner in 1918.

Pollock, Dr. Andrew,  Sr.
Kinston Free Press: Dr. Andrew Pollock, Sr., in Pensacola, Fla., on October 18th, of congestion of the brain. He leaves a widow and five children and a host of friends to mourn his departure. He was a man of strong character, of an amiable nature, and elegant manners. He was educated at Wake Forest college and at the University of New York, and became one of the most successful physicians of the south. His father, the late Dr. W.A.J. Pollock, of Kinston, died a few years ago, and he was now living here with his brothers, Dr. J.A. Pollock and Mr. W.D. Pollock, and his sisters, Mrs. Jas. G.
