Hit board game Gloomhaven’s digital edition gets a big update today. Chapter 4 adds two new biomes to the early access game, plus new story missions and enemies. It’s accompanied by a new trailer, which you can watch on YouTube.

Designed by Isaac Childres, Gloomhaven is a card-driven dungeon crawler that supports solo play as well as parties of up to five players. It doesn’t require a game master, which makes it a great candidate for a video game adaptation. Unfortunately, the game launched into Steam early access in 2019 largely bereft of the kind of content that made it unique — including an open world with branching narrative content. Since that time, the team at Flaming Fowl Studios has worked to expand and improve the game.

According to a news release, the Chapter 4 update includes new sewer and rural village biomes plus seven new story missions. New enemies include the Black Imp, Deep Terror, Ooze, and Lurker. Dedicated players will also be glad to know that the update includes two new mercenaries, codenamed “Eclipse” and “Phoenix” to avoid spoilers. There’s also a new boss hanging out on the bottom of the ocean. The update is completely free for those who own the game.

Final patch before the full release on October 20th.
  • Added some additional logging to track down some rare issues.
  • Fixed an issue where you aren't able to disarm a trap that you are flying over.
  • Fixed a UI issue when trying to select a path that moves through Difficult Terrain.
  • Fixed an issue with Ancient Artillery not attacking when it has range and LOS through a door.
  • Fixed an issue with the Battle Goal Opener.
  • Made some loading optimisations to hopefully stop people getting stuck when launching the game for the first time.
  • Fixed an issue with Mindthief and Horned Helm.
Reviving Ether not correct working?
Hello What am I doing wrong? with Reviving Ether no cards are restored for me? Is it a bug in the game right now? thanks in advance

Tutorial is Terrible. Reviving Ether.
I've had to go to Youtube for almost every tutorial episode. I can't figure out the Spellweaver one AT ALL. How do you get Reviving Ether back? In all the tutorials it says burn Freezing Nova, but it always says Burn Reviving Ether in my tutorial when I short rest....
Various bug fixes and stability improvements as we prepare for the full launch on October 20th!
Fixes include:

Fixed an issue where players could not pull monsters through their allies.
Fixed an issue with applying Angry Face Dooms to neutral monsters.
Fixed an issue with some tutorials not being able to be completed.
Fixed an issue with Saw Prep For Surgery top action not adding +1 when converting Attacks.
Fixed an issue that was causing scenarios with Altars to spawn twice as many.

I've never played the Gloomhaven Boardgame so i did a deep dive, not really prepared.

This IS a complex beast.

The Tutorial is more of a puzzle and if you take your time, it will take more than 2 hours to go thru with it, keep that in mind if you want a chance to refund it. Maybe watch a video on YT first before palying (digital) Gloomhaven at all.

Once it clicks and the tutorial guy lets you off the leash you kinda know half what you can do and the game really opens up.

Well it clicked with me and i'm having a blast. Clocking in around 15 hours now and still having the feeling of only touched the surface. I like that!

This game is time consuming, at least at the start until you know, what you do. After that you can play a quick adventure here and there and build your guild & toons up.

Such an amazing game! Its just like the board game but you dont have to set it up. Me and the bois will be playing this game religiously when the campaign comes out!

I love the board game, and this is a faithful adaptation. Lots of fun to try out the classes I didn't play in the physical game.
Will all characters from the tabletop version be avilable
Right now we only got 7 character classes, but the full roster from tabletop version has 24 characters, right ? Will we be able to play as all of these eventually in this game ?
Why am I starting each scenario in the game with 3 curses?
My friend and I started a new campaign and every scenario we have played (5) have started the scenario with 3 curses. When did this bug start happening?
Isn't Retaliation nonsense? I understand it when the enemy AI is using it but once you use it they have 3 options: Attack someone else from your party Attack from a distance or Not attack at all Whatever you do it seems the enemies will never recieve retaliation damage ^^ so you can only use it like a shield to avert damage from the char which is using it but not to do any damage to the enemy. Isn't that dodging its purpose? I do not know if there are aoe aggro abilities later on but this was my experie...
